I have spent much time exploring and drawing on the isle of Portland. It is a rugged, yet beautiful place, shrouded in mystery, where the weather can change in an instant and there are treacherous currents and shallow banks. The Trinity House Obelisk is a daymark and has been warning seamen of these dangers since 1844 and has survived the elements as well as threats of demolition! This edition was made as a tribute to my late father-in-law, who loved this place and watching the Fastnet Race!
