Letters, type, print, paint, leather.

I have been working with traditional graphic arts methods since 2002. With a mission to produce quality printed items with a low carbon footprint, my letterpress workshop, Hi-Artz Press was established in Luton, Bedfordshire. A love of history, typography and lettering led me to expand into traditional signwriting and glass gilding. Since then my work has featured on national TV, in several books and has been commissioned, exhibited and licensed all over the world. I also produce smaller, quality bespoke items for the home to suit all pockets. 

The Hi-Artz Press maxim is “Think Global, Act Local”. Everything I sell is handmade with care and pride in small quantities in my Luton workshop and given a thorough “road testing” before being offered for sale. I only use sustainably sourced and up-cycled materials from suppliers and manufacturers within the UK.

I sell directly to the public or through carefully selected independent retailers and online orders are delivered via Royal Mail. I will not use third party multi-national warehouse re-sellers or low-cost delivery companies who exploit their workers. 

I like bringing old machines back to life, (usually printing presses or British motorbikes), playing guitar and mandolin in various bands, going to steam fairs, rock'n'roll gigs, independent real ale pubs and growing vegetables. I also teach traditional typesetting, letterpress printing and sign writing at Central Saint Martins, a major London art and design school. I enjoy what I do, keeping old crafts current and love putting a smile on someone’s face with something I’ve created!
