I am never one to pass up free raw materials and bottles often come in such good quality glass that it seems a crime to just smash them up for recycling. This is one such bottle which originally contained a rather special brand of gin.
To create the vase I cut off the top of the bottle and ground the glass smooth, before sandblasting the design on and finishing the surface with a protective coating.

In line with the movement towards more sustainable products, this elegant glass vase was created from an upcycled empty bottle.
The vase is a good quality heavyweight clear glass with a chunky oval base rising to a circular top. To make the most of this feature I have left the base clear, giving the rest of the vase a white frosted finish with a sparkling clear glass design of a dragonfly among grasses. The frosted finish is etched into the glass and has a protective coating to resist finger marks.
Ideal for anyone who aspires to a more sustainable lifestyle, the vase will compliment fresh or dried flowers, but looks equally eye catching standing empty.
Etched recycled clear glass bottle vase, handmade by me in my home studio on the Wirral peninsula, NW England.
DIMENSIONS: The vase is 8.5cm (3.5") in diameter at the top and 14cm (5.5") tall.
CARE: Gentle handwash only to retain the protective surface coating. I do not advise putting this vase in the dishwasher as over time this will dull the surface.
