Item details

Bright and bold cotton batik fabrics have been used to create this underwater scene. The "stained glass" effect highlights the individual fabrics and outlines the shapes well within the finished piece. The three fish in thier bold contrasting colours and glass eye detail adds movement.

Backed with a blue batik fabric which sandwiches a layer of wadding each segment is quilting with a gloss embroidery thread picking out the colours. This quilting adds a further dimension to the overall appearance.

Finished with a black binding and three tabs this is ready for you to add your own hanger to compliment your decor.

Approx size is 16 x 20 inches.

My collections create purposeful items, including many that replace single use alternatives.

Where possible I endeavour to reduce my impact on our fragile planet.

When choosing materials I seek to:
- use recycled fabrics
- pad products with wadding that is 100% recycled plastic bottles
- upcycling discontinued fabric sample books to reduce landfill
- source Eco-friendly haberdashery resources where possible

I work towards Zero Waste by:
- using fabric offcuts & scraps to create new fabrics
- using Eco-friendly and recycled packaging

Living on the North Coast of Cornwall I naturally have a love of the sea, this piece is inspired by that love and particularly what lies beneath. I love using batik fabrics and putting different colours and patterns together to create stunning vibrant pieces. In never fails to surprise me that a blend of fabrics that shouldn't really go together somehow work. I hope you get as much pleasure from the finished piece as I did making it.
