A square Oxford cushion made using a 1930s embroidered panel and a vintage floral cotton sateen fabric by Robert and Anne Swaffer.

The sweet picture panel of a thatched cottage and garden, showcases a number of different embroidery stitches and vibrant colours (having spent the last 90 years under glass in an old wooden frame). The wonderful colours have been teamed with the complementary hues of the vintage Swaffer fabric 'Emma' which features flowers in pink, blue and yellow on a mellow-green background.

The embroidered picture and Oxford border have been framed using a delicate organdie braid (Sable Twig) of oak leaves and acorns.

The cushion opening on the rear panel is formed using a sage green zip.

The embroidered panel measures 26 x 19 cms. The Cushion measures approximately 54 x 54 cms (including the Oxford border) and is filled with a 45 x 45 cms British-made feather pad which gives a soft, informal shape.

An enormous amount of work has gone into this beautiful little embroidery which was lovingly-framed and obviously hung proudly on someone's wall for many years. Not a fashionable thing now for a contemporary interiors look, I admit, so it was great to be able to remove it from its frame and give it a new lease of life and showcase the embroidery skills as part of a vintage fabric cushion.

It would look lovely on a green linen bed or a small vintage bedroom chair.
