Following a bit of a disaster in my kiln I found myself with a rather wonderful but broken in two bright red glass bowl with a lot of dichroic decoration. I smashed it up with my handy hammer and remelted all the broken chunks into nuggets.
That was my first version of this suncatcher. As I have a growing stock of lovely nuggets now fused in my kiln specially I've had a lovely time choosing the red ones for this suncatcher.
This is an excellent example of the fusion of stained and fused glass.

Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
I've called this Melting Pot and it is to the same design as my Rainbow Circles but this time in vibrant shades of red and amber.
My alternative name is Ring of Fire because of the colouring.
I've used a super mix of glass nuggets made specially in my kiln.
all fused, melted to very high temperatures, incorporating lots of dichroic glass which will rather magically alter colour in different lights.
The circle which is made from 8 types and shades of red and amber glass is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire.
This is 14cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
This is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
I can never make another just the same as this, as each fused nugget is quite unique and therefore unrepeatable.
