These are the matching earrings to the Cupid's Dart Pendants. The legend says that the Roman God Cupid, the son of Venus the goddess of love, would carelessly throw magical darts at mortals, and whoever was pierced through the heart would fall hopelessly in love with the next person they saw. A heart pierced with an arrow became the universal symbol of true love.
About Murano Glass Beads
Glass beads have been made on the island of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon since the 13th Century when glassmaking was moved there to prevent fires breaking out in the city. Many of the techniques used by the artists who make the glass are closely guarded secrets, and it helped to be located on an island where few people were allowed to visit. Nowadays the glass making process is still done by hand and Murano glass is recognised as the finest of its kind in the world. No two Murano beads are alike and many are lined in fine silver or 24 Karat gold to enhance their beauty.

Stunning aqua coloured genuine Venetian Murano hearts pierced with a sterling silver arrow handcrafted in my West Sussex workshop.This design of drop earring is entirely unique to Mermaid's Purse Jewellery. Lightweight enough to wear comfortably all day, this delicate design has been entirely crafted by me from sterling silver wire using heating and hammering techniques to create the arrow shape. Even the ear fixings are hand crafted from sterling silver, because it would be a pity to mount unique Murano hearts on mass produced fixtures! These earrings measure 50 mm or 1" long with the Murano heart being 10 mm or 3/8" in width. The last photo shows the earrings next to a vintage lipstick case, to give a sense of scale.
They are sent carefully packaged in a gift box tied with a bow to give as a gift or keep to yourself, as you desire.
