An upcycled decoupage pencil pot.
This desk tidy has been decoupaged with real book pages from Jane Austen's brilliant novel Mansfield Park, and makes a really useful item of desk storage
I've been covering pots for my own use for many years and these tins in particular are a great size for pens, pencils and paint brushes.
My empty coffee tins (I do get through a few!) are washed, dried and painted on the inside with a matt black paint, the outer edges and rims have been painted in a creamy coloured paint and both inside and out have been sealed and varnished to protect the pots.
The pots/tins are then painstakingly covered with real book pages, which are then treated with four layers of sealant and a light coat of varnish.
The pots measure 12cm tall and 7.5cm in diameter.
Each of my pots are completely unique as they all use different books and different passages from each book.
I have used a light coat of varnish on the bottom and top of these tins, if you are using on an natural wood desk it may be advisable to place the pot on a coaster.
