Having a couple of insect prints in my collection, I wanted to add more. So what better choice than a dragonfly. When I was young we had a pond in the garden, and in the summer months it was often frequented by dragonflies. They always seemed to come in such vibrant iridescent colours, and flitted about never staying still long.

Fossils of giant dragonflies have been found that date back 325 million years ago, so they have been around for a very long time indeed. In Japan they are seen as symbols of strength, courage and happiness. I have titled this print "Strength" in honour of this idea, but also because it was created during the Covid 19 lockdown period, and I feel we could all do with at little strength at that times.
