Is it me, or do mayflies look like fairies? I'm sure that's what people thought when they first saw they skimming along on the surface of rivers. This print is inspired by just such a sighting during a walk down by the river near our house. We had been put for some fresh air during the lockdown period of the 2020 Covid 19 pandemic, and there were mayflies everywhere. I'd never seen them before, but I knew instantly that I wanted to carve them.

Mayflies only live for a day, so it really is a case of making every moment count for them. It's very thought provoking, and something to think about when looking at this design.
