The design for this necklace was inspired by my own love of lariat necklaces. I find fidgeting with the beads on the end of the cords very satisfying ;-) The design is simple but elegant, to allow the pattern and colours of the polymer clay to stand out.
The colour palette was inspired by the colour of fresh acorns, which glow gold in the sun. I love oak trees; they remind me of my grandmother who always used to say to me “big things from little acorns grow”. A great mantra for life!

Full description
This handcrafted lariat necklace blends gold, green and cream polymer clay to create a fresh, bright and striking piece of jewellery. The brown leather cord threads through a circular torus, which hangs from a circular disc. The ends of the cord are finished with spherical beads. Sliding knots in the leather cord allow you to adjust the length of the necklace.
Spring, summer, winter or fall this necklace will add pizzazz to any plain-coloured dress or tunic top.
Dimensions:
The necklace is threaded on 2.5 m of brown leather cord.
At full extension (i.e. with the knots tightened to the disc), the threads hang about 75 cm from the shoulder.
At shortest extension (i.e with the knots meeting), the threads hang about 63 cm from the shoulder.
All the clay pieces of this necklace have been cut from my own handmade canes, which I slice and lay out to create random patterns. No two pieces are ever the same! Once the pieces have been constructed and fired, they are sanded and painted with a semi-gloss varnish.
The necklace will be wrapped in tissue paper and placed in an organza bag, ready to gift or keep for yourself!
P.S. If you don’t wear leather, I would be happy to re-thread this necklace on waxed cotton cord.
P.P.S. I can also shorten the cord; just put a request into the order details, telling me how much shorter you'd like it to be.
