The design for this piece was inspired by my own love of lariat necklaces. I find fidgeting with the beads on the end of the cords very satisfyin ;-) The design is simple but elegant, to allow the pattern and colours of the polymer clay to stand out.
I call the colour palette I’ve used for these earrings ‘rich chocolate’, as it reminds me of chocolate-bar wrappings of my youth. It looks good enough to eat!

Full description
The maroon, purple and glitter-gold of this handcrafted, polymer clay lariat necklace creates a sumptuously elegant piece of jewellery. The brown leather cord threads through a circular torus, which hangs from a circular disc. Both pieces are backed with a layer of glitter-gold polymer clay. The ends of the cord are finished with spherical beads. Sliding knots in the leather cord allow you to adjust the length of the necklace.
This necklace would look great worn on a plain-coloured dress or tunic top. It will add professional chic to any daytime outfit, and add sparkle in the evening light.
Dimensions:
The necklace is threaded on 2m of leather cord.
At full extension (i.e. with the knots tightened to the disc), the threads hang about 50cm from the shoulder.
All the clay pieces of this necklace have been cut from my own handmade canes, which I slice and lay out to create random patterns. No two pieces are ever the same! Once the pieces have been constructed and fired, they are sanded and painted with a semi-gloss varnish.
The necklace will be wrapped in tissue paper and placed in an organza bag, ready to gift or keep for yourself!
P.S. If you don’t wear leather, I would be happy to re-thread this necklace on waxed cotton cord.
