This is something different, the lamp body is made from the trunk and roots of a long dead elderberry tree, it looks almost prehistoric, over the years the elements have eroded the trunk and roots leaving the roots all twisted and gnarled, they are incredibly smooth to the touch though. There are some lovely colours ranging from black to orange Running through the lamp. I remove all the decaying material so what’s left is solid wood so it will look great for years to come. The lamp is wired with a fully earthed , British standard plug and there is a switch on the cable. It has an antique style lamp holder and bulb. the bulb is an Edison type screw fitting. There is a top quality shade fitted, hessian exterior with a reflective copper interior that gives off a warm soft light, very relaxing. The lamp is secured to beautiful piece of thick swithland slate. The slate is from Wanlip hall and farm estate which was demolished in the 1930s, it was a grand old building, relics of the estate can be found all over the village i live in. I have fitted small foam pads underneath the slate to prevent any scratching. The lamp is very dramatic and organic looking and I think a really interesting piece. The dimensions are 41cms wide 24cms deep 52cms high approx weight is 2kgs.
