This sumptuous fabric button pendant, has been made using a beautiful section of William Morris & Co 100% cotton fabric from Moda, in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum.
This particular fabric has an Ebony background with wavy blue leaves, russet flowers and swirling green foliage.
I've selected a lovely area of the fabric featuring a wavy blue jagged leaf flowing down one side with a trio of russet flowers curving around the other and is surrounded by green foliage and other small flowers. I've then created a fabric flat backed button. Once the button is made, I then glued the button into an antique bronze plated pendant setting, that has a wonderful circular dot pattern to the back.
The fabric button itself measures 38mm, but set within the pendant surround measures 4cm wide by 5cm long – this includes the bail. I have added an antique bronze plated 18 inch (45 cm) flat oval trace chain, the links of the chain measure 4.5 x 3 mm and there’s a 12mm lobster clasp at one end. The chain and pendant blank are both nickel and lead free.
This lovely pendant will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a hand folded (by me!) UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box - perfect for gifting to the William Morris fan (or as a treat for yourself!).
This pattern is taken from an original design from a pattern book held in the V & A archives called 'Autumn Flower', dated 1888. Created by William Morris himself, its inspiration was drawn from the garden at Red House at Bexleyheath, London (now a National Trust property!), the home he built for his family early in his career.
