A beautiful Cyanotype print on cotton fabric embellished with hand embroidery in glittering metallic thread. Cyanotype prints are the original blueprints and it’s one of the oldest forms of photography. In my prints I select and arrange natural objects, in this case feathers which I've collected on my walks, onto specially treated fabric which I then expose to the sunlight on a bright sunny day. I then remove the feathers and rinse the fabric to reveal a cyanotype print. I then work back into my prints with hand embroidery.
This unique piece of art is mounted into an acid free card mount complete with backing board, ready to frame. Your mounted artwork is then placed in a cellophane wrapper to protect it and will be sent out carefully wrapped in a padded envelope. This mount measures 25.5 cm x 30.5 cm and the aperture is 17 cm x 22 cm.
I love harnessing the power of the sun to create blueprints of my favourite natural objects. I mix and prepare the chemicals, carefully coat the fabric and then wait for a sunny day to get outside and get printing!
