It is a legal requirement in the UK to specify at the point of sale if turquoise jewellery is reconstituted or stabilised. Stabilised turquoise is extremely expensive to purchase in all grades worldwide. The majority of turquoise jewellery sold on Internet craft websites is reconstituted and very few sellers actually declare it's status! Reconstituted turquoise has a slightly waxey feel to the touch abd it is not recognised by the GIA as a gemstone. It is man made from ground down poor grade turquoise with other man made components added to be reformed by mass production into beads.
