I wanted to make a pair of delicate earrings that packed a colourful punch in the ear.

Full description

This listing is for a dainty pair of glass earrings on sterling silver ear hooks. Both the glass and sterling silver hooks have been made by myself. They are made up of shades of green, blue and purple with a hint of orange on the tip.

Note: first two images are the front view and the last four are side view of the glass.

I call them my matchstick range as they are slightly square and thin. They are comfortable and light weight to wear in the ear.

These have a 4cm drop from the top of the sterling silver hook to the bottom of the glass. The glass is 3cm long x 0.4cm wide.

These earrings are one of a kind as I combine blocks of colour glass together to create my own colour combinations and patterns through a series of three or more kiln firings and cold working techniques. I am mostly taking away glass to create the shape and to ensure they are lightweight in the ear. Once this pair has gone it will be gone.

Kiln forming is a process where glass is layered and heated in a kiln to a temperature where the glass melts and the layers fuse together. All my glass is digitally annealed and cooled for strength and safety in my studio in Bristol. 2020© Robyn Coetzee Glass
