Moths are so alluring, not as colourful as butterflies, but just as beautiful in their own way. This design was inspired by my husband’s family's history with moths. When he was little my Father-in-Law lived in Malaysia and his Father collected moths, including some of the more rare and exotic species. Most of the collection was donated to the Natural History Museum, but my Father-in-Law still enjoys going out with his Moth lamp to see what he can find, although he has more of a capture and release ethic. My kids love going to look at the moths and discover what each one is called. They often come in festooned in Elephant Hawk Moths, just to frighten Nanny!

These particular moths are called Gypsy Moths. The females have white wings with dark accents and little fluffy heads, whilst the males are brown in colour and have fluffy antlers or “ears”. They were thought to be extinct in England, but have since been found in Southern Coastal areas, Jersey and Guernsey.
