Full description
Prancing horse brooch, handmade from pewter.
All brooches are limited editions and are signed or stamped on the back.
The length of the brooch is approximately 2 inches, and the height is approximately 1.5 inches
I hand craft each and every item in my shop.
This brooch is made from fine English Pewter. I polish to give the metal a high sheen then I give it some color by carefully patinating with a combination of surface treatments. The brooch is then re polished which gives a beautiful vintage look to the metal.
I really enjoy working in pewter, the color is so mellow and the metal has a lovely warm feel when you hold it. Modern pewter is lead free and really environmentally friendly, any off cuts and filings can be melted down and used again.
I use clasps made from hard wearing steel, with a secure roller fastening. My brooch bars are carefully pinned and then soldered to the back of the brooch which makes them really secure.
Making is my full time job. I live in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir in the English countryside, where I have my home workshop.
