Well ... being in Cumbria sheep do appear in many selections of Artwork! This particular Ram has been needlefelted with Herdwick and Merino wool to give depth and shape, a needlefelted Merino mix of blues for the background, and a local rock to represent the dry stone walls found throughout the Lake District Fells.

The work is then framed in an open (no glass) white washed wood frame width 22cm, height 18cm and depth 3cm, with one hook at the back or can be standalone.

As Herdwick sheep are incredibly well known in the Cumbrian Fells for their lovely faces and strong constitution I started looking at sheep and their characters. The inspiration for this group of needlefelted sheep comes from various works of William Geldart transferred into the medium of textured art, particularly Shetland, Herdwick and Merino wool.
