Here at SPD Woodcrafts we have created a beautiful hand poured wax to protect and enhance your chopping boards or cheese boards.
The ingredients are a blend of pure Tung oil, beeswax and carnauba wax with no artificial driers or solvents which make this wax foodsafe.
Supplied in a 100g screw top tin, enough to last a long time for re-application when needed.
A lot of the wax polishes available today are soft paste waxes with solvents to increase their volume which is something I want to avoid.
This is an old approach to finishing, there are no dryers or accelerants added to the wax so you do need elbow grease and leave two or three days between applications to allow everything to harden.
Application in thin coats is achievable with a soft lint free cloth, 0000 wire wool or a clean shoe brush for larger surfaces. Successive applications build into a resilient clear protective layer that enhances the figure of the timber.
This wax is best applied over a previously oiled board in thin coats to provide a pleasing finish.

This wax can also be used to add a patina finish to shabby chic furniture, if applied in thick layers and buffed it will give a patchy appearance as it dries unevenly. It will give the impression of wear and tear but still be fully protected.
