As a child in rural west Wales, I discovered a secret grassy meadow where I spent many happy hours, looking for flowers and if I was lucky, watching the Hares who lived there.
I've kept that fascination, although rarely glimpsed now. I think the Hare's reputation for mystery and secrecy is well deserved. This is my attempt to show a bit of that...

Full description
Hand stitched portrait of a Hare.
This little Hare was stitched with strands of embroidery thread - the image was built up using stitches of various lengths and colours, creating detail and depth. There's a glint of gold thread for his whiskers and there's a mischievous glint in his eye too!
I photographed the Hare in natural light and without the glass for clarity, then it's protected behind glass in an oak frame. The embroidered piece is just over 3x3cms and the frame is about 10.5x10.5cms, and it's ready to hang.
The picture would make an ideal gift for nature-lovers, or a fan of Hares!
