Cute little birds stealing a strawberry - An iconic William Morris design on sumptuous Liberty’s Tana Lawn fabric (100% soft cotton), is updated with a fresh modern colour palette! Designed by Morris himself and first produced in 1883 - Strawberry thief – is one of William Morris’ most iconic designs.
I have chosen sections of this fabric featuring a naughty Thrush who has stolen a strawberry. The blue tinted thrush stands on a dark blue background, surrounded by foliage and flowers in blues and greens with deep pink strawberries.
I've created two 15mm diameter fabric covered flat backed buttons, then glued them into antique bronze plated brass (nickel & lead free) round bezels. I've then suspended the fabric buttons onto antique bronze plated earring hooks. Please feel free to ask me to swap the earring hooks to surgical steel ones if have sensitive skin.
The buttons measure approximately 16mm in diameter, with a total drop length of just under 4 cm.
These lovely unique earrings will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box - perfect for gifting to that Pre-Raphaelite, William Morris or Liberty’s of London fan (or as a treat for yourself!)
William Morris based the pattern and name on the thrushes which frequently stole the strawberries in the kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Gloucestershire. Despite the fact that this design was one of the most expensive printed furnishings available from Morris & Co., (due to the particular printing method employed) it became a firm favourite with clients.
