A small "useful sculpture" which takes the form of a box! This is inspired by the Greek myth of Pandora who let all the Evils out of the box when she opened the lid and only Hope was left inside. I have used a design inspired by aboriginal art where stories were represented by dots. The dots also obscured certain information that lay underneath the dots. This box is first in a series
The box is 8cm square, has a small hinged lid and is mounted on a Dartmoor sheep felt pad.

I have been inspired by the story of the pioneering artists of Papunya in Australia and Geoffrey Bardon who helped set up the Western Desert aboriginal art movement. Boxes as containers for memories and dreams have always fascinated me as has the story of Pandora and her mythical box containing evil and Hope. This piece can be viewed as a sculpture or a useful container...
