I love stitching miniature landscapes. This is the second brooch I have made with this sort of painted background.

Full description
A pretty winter landscape featuring snowdrops and a winter tree embroidered on a hand painted background.
A piece of white fabric was painted in shades of green and sky blue to represent green meadows and sky. The fabric paints were allowed to blend at the boundaries. An oval shape was cut from the painted fabric and a pretty design of a winter tree and delicate snowdrops was stitched in cotton threads.
The completed design has been reinforced by plastic cut from a recycled bottle. The design has been framed by button hole stitch, in fine threads, in blue and green - corresponding to the areas of the design. The back of the brooch is neatened by a layer of felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Height - 6 cm approx

Items of embroidered jewellery may not be colourfast - care should be taken to remove them from clothing before clothing is washed.
