I was photographing and documenting the annual Deer Rut, and the day was coming to a close as the light was fading rapidly.

I had more or less given up on getting anymore images when suddenly, on the crest of the opposite hill, a Red Deer emerged with his Hinds, and gave off a magnificent roar.

With the sunset colours behind him, I just had to get the shot. :-)
