One of my favourite Christmas characters to draw has always been Christmas elves with their cute floppy hats and turned up shoes, so I thought it would be nice to make a boy and a girl ready to hang from a tree.

Father Christmas is always in need of some helpers so I created this cute pair. One boy Christmas elf and one girl. They are extremely coordinated in their spots and stripes in seasonal red and white.
Both elves have been screen printed by hand, by me, on my kitchen table using waterbased inks. I used hand drawn screens from my own sketches capturing their rosy cheeks and cute expressions.
They have been printed on white cotton in red, with details of spots, stars, bells and hearts picked out and printed in gold ink. A little flurry of free motion embroidered detail in gold thread gives them a little extra sparkle..
They have been backed in a silver grey polka dot cotton fabric, stuffed with a polyester fill and a red gingham or candy stripe fabric loop added for hanging.
Each little elf measures approximately 19cm tall by 7cm wide at widest part. The hanging loop is an additional 8cm.
These would be perfect hanging from a Christmas tree and would work in either a traditional or contemporary scheme.
