This clock houses a quartz skeleton movement set into an English Ash and Pine laminated body which outlines the movement. The skeleton quartz movement is a 100mm diameter with a silver surround and black hands.
The apple body is hung from a silver and green polyester cord that is spliced back on itself and then stitched with green whipping twine to ensure the splice does not slip. This gives the apple a chance to swing on the string. The tree is a piece of eucalyptus with a branch, which has the bark removed in places, this is on an English Ash base, with two maple feet.
Clock movement is a gold skeleton movement with black roman numerals and black hands, this requires an AAA battery.
The dimensions are 316mm high x 160mm wide x 320mm deep, depending on the position of the fruit, it weighs 1.38kgs (3lb 0ozs)
This clock is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put near a heat source such as a radiator, it will also discolour if left in direct sunlight. The item you see here is the one you will receive and I have aimed to provide dimensions which are as accurate as possible. Please note that wood is a natural product and can be affected by its environment.
The inspiration for this clock was due to the end of summer and looking at our crop of apples and my childhood scrumping apples from the woods. To have this clock as a mobile was another dream of mine so the fruit sways on the branch. This I have achieved at last. The Gale girls picked an apple leaf from our step over apple tree and we then traced it on to the wood. It was then cut on our bandsaw to form an apple, which I had previously drawn out on the wood blank.
