I've always been interested in sculpture and 3D geometry, using many similar forms within my work.
This particular shape was inspired by an Octahedron, one of the five Platonic Solids that were discovered by the early Pythagoreans, circa 450BC.
Recently I've been making card maquettes to explore 3D geometry and discover new shapes.

Full description
OC is an 8 sided triangular based aluminium shape with a tealight candle at its centre. The candle is partly hidden from view, and the angular openings produce animated beams of light on nearby surfaces. Ideal for adding a warm glow to your dining table. The underside of the object is covered in baize to protect surfaces.
OC is part of a range of five sculptures/lanterns. The last photo shows all 5 shapes and their relative size. The cube is 60mm and all are based on the 5 Platonic Solids with the same volume.
