This colourful chain will bring a vibrant splash of colour and a real vintage feel to your party or Christmas decorations.

Hand knitted using a range of brightly coloured balls of wool, this chain is made up of 26 individually-made links and it will look great hanging on your walls, draped around picture frames and mirrors, strung from the ceiling or even wrapped around your Christmas tree.

Each link is knitted up (using old fashioned wooden needles of course!) in plain garter stitch and then they are looped and stitched together to make the chain.

It’s based on the paper chains that I remember making as a child – but this woolly version will last much longer.

Measure approximately 1.75m (5.5 feet) in length.

If you remember making paper chains as a child (or if you still make them now!) then you’ll have no trouble working out the inspiration behind these lovely woolly versions.

Although these are intended to be a party or Christmas decoration they actually remind me of lazy summer days spent on the beach. That’s because the wool I use to make these chains is from a lovely arts and crafts shop that I always visit on our family summer holidays to the North Yorkshire coast.

The wool has a real rustic feel to it and when knitted up into the chain links it really holds its shape well, so for me it’s the perfect yarn. A match made in heaven – well, in Yorkshire anyway!
