Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.

I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.

If you have any questions, then feel free to reach out and get in touch. Thank you for looking (and if you should decide to purchase , a huge thank you!)

I am fascinated with the process of melting glass, and manipulating it while its hot allows me to ensure that everything is unique.
Christmas decorations are always popular, and I have been making icicles for many years - though they've rarely made it online. This year, due to the situation, I cannot rely on face to face markets taking place, and I'm attempting to move all of my work gradually online.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Full description

This is a set of FIVE unique handmade flameworked borosilicate glass icicles.

Handcrafted by myself in my small glass studio in the Aber Valley in South Wales.

These begin life as glass rods, which I melt with the flame of my lampwork torch, and decorate with another colour. The molten glass is manipulated swirled, twisted and stretched in the flame, and then placed into the kiln to anneal. Each icicle is different and vary in length and diameter ( in reality I get into a zone when making these, and they always end up with differing numbers of twists and different lengths) - but then you'll never get two identical icicles in nature either!

The icicles vary in length, but range between about 15 to 21 cm in length. Each icicle has a piece of ribbon attached to allow it to hang from a branch of a tree (or from the wall).

They really catch the light and sparkle.

Borosilicate glass? I hear you ask - this is what is commonly known as 'pyrex' glass (though pyrex is made by a particular manufacturer and is a registered trade mark) - this is the glass that laboratory glass ware is made from, and is therefore stronger than usual.

By kiln annealing them, they are quite strong, but be aware they are still made of glass and can be sharp if broken.

For this reason, as with most of my work, they are not suitable as toys for children.

Great winter or Christmas decoration idea.
