Hi, a warm welcome to the Dragon Art Glass shop on Folksy. I'm Andrea, a full time glass addict (oops, artist!) living and working in the valleys of South Wales. I've had a little shop here on Folksy since about 2016, but can also often be found at local craft markets and in my studio in Senghenydd.

I always aim to send out orders as quickly as possible, (often within a day), but please be aware that I post only via Royal Mail.
To make things easier for you, I can gladly gift wrap any presents, add a hand-written note and send them directly to the recipient at no extra charge – just leave me a note and details when you checkout.

If you have any questions, then feel free to reach out and get in touch. Thank you for looking (and if you should decide to purchase , a huge thank you!)

Lampworking is my zen process. There is nothing better then sitting down and watching what is created from the melting glass.
I like making beads, but small creatures are my favourite.
We often have little robins in the garden throughout the year, and they are very popular as Christmas decorations.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Read the Folksy Returns Policy.

Full description

These lovely little flameworked glass robins look fab on a tree - or they could hang from your window...and the great thing is that each one is unique.

They are a great Teacher thank you gift idea too!

Each robin has been handmade by me, and begins life as a glass rod. The rod is heated in the open flame of a torch, to a temperature of about 1000 degrees C; melted and wrapped around a mandrel to make a bead shape.

The initial rounded brown bead is then decorated by adding wings, layers of white and red for the breast, a cute little tail and a pair of eyes.

The robin then goes into the kiln to be annealed - this is needed as when glass is heated up to a molten stage stresses build up, and it could crack on cooling. Annealing is a process where the glass is held at a certain temperature to allow the stresses between the molecules to release, and then the bead is slowly cooled to room temperature. This makes each piece durable.

The robin is then removed from the mandrel on which it is made, cleaned and given a little bling - usually wire through the centre and several beads and a piece of ribbon to hang from.

Each robin is unique, but every robin is in a similar style. Ribbons and beads vary from robin to robin. Sometimes I make bluebirds too - Keep an eye out!
