I have been experimenting with using coloured slips and finding different ways to get the colours to interact together. This may involve the use of my fingers or a brush, tilting the piece, or even my own breath to gently move the slips around.

Full description
This gorgeous plate/dish has been created with the use of coloured slips (watered-down clay) the skill comes in moving the slip around the plate to create patterns I'm hoping for. In this case it was inspired by my fascination of the patterns you find in cloud Nebula.
As with many things in handmade pottery, very rarely do you get a perfect piece and neither would I want to (I can go to a high street shop for imported factory made perfect pottery!) So whilst the outside of the dish/plate has been covered in the green slip there are some thin spots along the underside age showing the white stoneware clay underneath, as shown in the last photo.
The coloured slip, once bisque fired, has then been glazed all over in a smooth silky glossy clear glaze to make it food safe
Dimensions:
1.5cm high
16cm wide
About my pottery - I use my pottery sales on Etsy & Folksy to help raise funds for animal rescue charities (Friends of Ferals and World Animal Friends – both on Facebook) and to fund my hobby.
I have my own small studio in Yorkshire, England and each piece is lovingly made and totally unique. My pottery is robust as well as beautiful, dishwasher safe (although hand washing is kinder) and microwave safe (except for pieces with metallic lustre). I use stoneware clay.
