We had around 80 large hardwood parquet flooring blocks taken out of our house. It seemed a shame to throw them away so I designed this wren to be made out of a single block. The beak and egg are made separately from boxwood as this is hard and holds such fine detail. I always like to have some movement in the pieces that I make and in this case it is the section that lifts revealing the removable eggs. It has proven to be so popular that I am now getting to the end of my supply of blocks.

Full description

This wren is made from hardwood with a box wood beak and egg. It can be displayed self standing or can be mounted on a perch adapter that is provided (see photo). The body contains a painted wooden egg that is revealed when the tail is rotated backwards. This carving is approximately life sized.

The beak, eyes and egg are painted with acrylics. All parts are finished with acrylic lacquer. Like in real life each egg is patterned differently sa you can see from the photograph.
