I am inspired by the ocean and its wonderful large creatures and its vast and still unexplored depths. Some whales live up to seventy years. I am intrigued as to what they have seen and experienced, and how much contact they may have made with the human race, and whether this has been a postitive or negative experience.

This listing is for a large glass whale. It is 34cm in length x 17cm at the highest point of the tail.
It is slightly curved so that it can stand and catch the light. It has a smooth gloss front and a textured back with copper powder inclusion.
Fused glass is sunlight and water resistant therefore perfect to be displayed in your window, conservatory, bathroom or kitchen.
Kiln fused glass is a process where glass is layered and heated in a kiln to a temperature where the glass melts and the layers fuse together. My whales are made up of layers of glass sheet and powder and other inclusions. Each whale is fused, cold-worked and then slumped, a process that takes many kiln firings to complete over many days. Each piece is unique.
My glass is always digitally annealed and cooled for strength and safety in my home studio in Bristol.
I use recycled packaging and as plastic free as possible. I dream of a plastic free ocean oneday.
