Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A starburst, an explosion of light.
It's a while since I have made this design as it is a challenge to cut but well worth the effort when finished. I really love it.
I based it on the idea of a square of paper which had been folded and the result was this lovely suncatcher which has the appearance of a silken cushion in some lights.
Its colours show subtle shade changes from palest turquoise to deeper aquamarine with a hint of pink in the iridescent segments and it radiates from a central core which is a very large sparkling multi-faceted crystal (from an antique chandelier). I've used some pieces of iridescent glass which makes it very sparkly.
It is 16cm square and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
It can hang in a window or even just against a wall and it is would make a wonderfully colourful addition to any room.
This would make a lovely present. It is totally individual. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
