I spent nearly 20 years working in various foundries, casting everything from formula one wheels, to chieftan tank turrets. I studied at college and eventually I worked my way up to becoming a metallurgist. However, manufacturing took a nose dive in the nineties, and several redundancies later, I finally bowed to the inevitable and retrained in Financial Services. Ultimately I was unfullfilled selling mortgages and pensions, and needed a creative outlet. I came across an old furnace for sale, and bought it on a whim. I set myself a workshop up in my garage and started producing small items for friends, then local shops and garden centres. Now two years later I have amassed enough patterns and ideas to open up a small shop here on folksy. I have taught my son the basics, and I am hoping to pass on my skills to the next generation.

I don't know where this will lead, but I am determined that I will enjoy the journey!
