Having made jewellery from Sterling Silver for a few years, I wanted to venture into Silver Clay to be able to produce sculpted pieces and widen the repertoire for my customers. Having finally acquired a kiln, I experimented with various small pieces and was then approached by a work colleague to make two silver turtles in memory of a Caribbean holiday. Thus, the small and large (his ‘n hers) silver turtles were born.

Full description
This small Silver Turtle is completely handmade in Fine Silver .999. The Turtle is moulded in Silver Clay then completely dried before firing at 850 degrees C for two hours. This burns off the clay binder leaving pure silver behind. This can then be ‘worked’ like any other silver piece. This Turtle is highlighted with 24ct Gold Highlights. It is 3cm high by 2cm at the widest point and weighs 6.72 grams. It comes with a Sterling Silver Popcorn Chain in a Presentation Box. Although below the exemption weight it is still hallmarked for quality with the ‘Fine Silver’ hallmark of the Sheffield Assay Office.
