Death is difficult for us in this modern life because we are sheltered from it in so many ways. A lot of ritual, euphemisms and shielding is used to save us grief, to hide the reality. When my Grandfather passed away, I remember walking to the funeral directors car and seeing his coffin, rather beautiful and decked in flowers - and I felt at once fully undone by his loss and at the same time completely removed from the man I knew and loved. His funeral was high on tradition but did nothing for me and nor did I feel it represented the man. Today we have so many more opportunities to create a personalised end of life journey - making it a real comfort for everyone.
This Gothic motif is a massive departure from work I normally undertake - a real challenge to take me out of my own comfort zone - but I am pleased with how it has all come together.

Full description
This is a large cover - can be used in standard funerals to drape coffin or shroud in green burials - many prefer something personal to drape over and soften the experience.
This kind of cover can also be used by morticians who prefer to use a working blanket when moving people between home/mortuary.
features:
- Made in 4 quarters - the top 2 quarters are shorter than the longer two - representing our
shorter time on earth.
- The top two quarters have written the values of the living - Love and Joy
- The bottom two quarters have written the values taken through death - Peace and Grace
- The golden threaded spirals represent life eternal
- The buttons represent the ancient practice of placing small stones or pennies over the
eyes of the departed
- The sugar skull & roses lining depicts the Dia de la Muertos - celebrating the
life of the deceased,
- The central panel can be used to add something personal - the one depicted is simply for
display (this will depend on preference and timing)

of our lives and our eventual death.
