Children's toys and whimsical fairy tale books (many of these I still have from my own childhood in the 1980s), along with a growing vintage fabric collection from my adult years, have always been the inspiration for my work, both for my designs at college and university through to everything that I create today.
These things that inspire me give my products a whimsical and retro twist of child like charm and I feel really lucky to be able to do what I love which is to design, sew and make cute things.

Hello, this is Cherry Bloom, she is a one of a kind artist mohair bear handmade by me, Melissa Jayne Bears.
She measures approx 20cm in height and is made from 20mm, german schulte mohair in a pink and green mix.
She wears a little ribbon effect bow headband with frayed edges, and a matching handmade top with a little pink pocket, two cream buttons and a snap fastening to the reverse, made out of a vintage cotton fabric in a pink, green, yellow and peach mix.
Cherry Bloom comes complete with a little card which shows all the materials I have used to make her.
Her materials, fillings and features are:

Cotter pin jointed

Embroidered nose.
Handpainted Features
Premium Polyester stuffing
Woodwool
Plastic Pellets
Steel weighting
Cotton headband and top with buttons and snap fastening.
