Full description
This is a 75% Bluefaced Leicester & 25% Mid Brown Masham 4 ply yarn , naturally hand dyed in the Yorkshire Dales , the yarn is locally spun just down the valley from me and is a Worstead spun yarn . This is the second dye lot of this mini collection.
This Nature’s Palette Collection has been put together for you to play with and produce beautiful natural coloured garments with , I have knitted a couple of sample accessories as pictured in the images above just to give you an idea of what you can create , I made a hat & wrist warmers from one bundle of 100g .
I only use natural dyes to dye yarn with in both plant form and extract as well as minerals and insect ( e.g. Cochineal and Lac which are both scale insects which have been used traditionally for hundreds of years ) . I usually use Alum & Cream of Tartar to modify my yarn .
Weight : 100g (/7x 10g coloured & 1 x 30g of Natural grey )
Approx 400mt/ 437yds in total , 4ply, Needles size: 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm
Dye Used : Acorn, Logwood, Cutch, Alder Buckthorn Bark, Lac extract, Madder root,
Chlorophyllin.
To care for your yarn Inwould suggest that you always gently hand wash it in cool water with a gentle wool soap ( Inlike to use a no rinse wool wash )
