Full description

Millstone Edge and Over Owler Tor (unframed ORIGINAL)

Abstract expressive Derbyshire landscape painting inspired by the view of Millstone Edge from Little Moor at Hathersage, with Over Owler Tor just peeking through in the distance on the left hand side. Millstone Edge is a gritstone escarpment near the Surprise View in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District National Park. Once quarried for millstone (hence the name), it's now one of the most popular crags in the area for climbers. This Peak District landscape picture captures the colours and movement of the windswept moor in the late winter.

This original art would make the perfect gift for someone who appreciates the beauty of the Peak District, or moody mountain and moorland landscapes. The rugged, windswept landscapes of the Dark Peak are very popular area with dog walkers, mountain bikers and ramblers from the surrounding areas of the Hope Valley and Sheffield as well as climbers drawn to the Peak District's famous gritstone crags from much further afield!

This is a large original using conte crayon, ink and watercolour blocks on 300gsm smooth watercolour paper.
