The thrush is always welcome in our garden because of the lovely song, and I enjoy admiring their delicate markings.
Also, they remind me of my grandfather who used to watch them through the window, always commenting that "there's another big thrush". He used to say the same thing about the blackbirds, and to be honest, I don't think they were any bigger than any other thrushes and blackbirds, it's just that they were the only bird species he knew the names of !
Anyway, I enjoy catching a glimpse of a song thrush in the flower beds.

Hand embroidered picture of a song thrush.
One of the larger feathered visitors to our little garden, the thrush is always welcome for the beautiful song, as well as the lovely flecked markings on that proud breast.
This little study of a favourite garden bird was hand stitched with strands of embroidery thread using a combination of stitches of various lengths and colours. It is a time consuming method, but does allow lots of detail - I like the pose of this bird. What is she looking at, or listening to?
The stitched piece is protected behind glass in an oak frame ready for display. The embroidered image is about 3.5 x 3.5cms and the frame is just over 10 x 10cms, and is ready to display.
It was photographed in natural light without the glass for accuracy, but I expect you're aware that screens and monitors vary.
