The little wrens that live in our garden.
Although small and not as colourful as some of our other residents, the wrens are cheerful and have a surprisingly loud voice for such a tiny creature. And I'm always surprised at how their shape alters, from a round ball to stretched up tall.

Hand-stitched embroidered picture of a wern.
Small, inconspicuous brown birds with a big personality!
I've stitched this picture using a method I can "drawing with threads". The phrase describes how the image is built up on the fabric using a series of stiches of different lengths and colours. It is time consuming, but shows a lot of detail.
This study is stitched with strands of anchor threads onto fabric scraps. It's then framed behind glass in an oak frame for display and protection. The little stitched piece is about 3.5 x 3.5cms, and the frame just over 10 x 10cms, and is ready for hanging.
I've photographed the picture in natural light without glass to show it as accurately as possible but I'm sure you know that screens and monitors do vary.
It would make a lovely gift for a gardener or a nature lover.
