When making textile products of any sort you inevitably end up with fabric scraps – leftover pieces of varying sizes that aren't big enough to do much with but are too good to throw away. I like to use those fabric scraps to make something beautiful and unique. I work using the improv technique of quilting, which means I don't begin with a plan or a design, I simply start by sewing two pieces of fabric together and keep adding until the quilt top is complete. The result is always very organic, the lines and shapes have a natural feel and flow. I think this has to be my favourite way of working because you never know how the end result will look, it's always a surprise!
