This handcrafted jewellery design was made using semi precious Citrine and Red Marcasite. I have also used gold seed beads as spacer beads. The toggle clasp is gold plated.
The necklace is 19 inches long.

I had never heard of Red Marcasite before. I knew of the Marcasite you see in victorian style jewellery which is black, so I was very intrigued by this new gemstone. It is very similar in appearance to Lapis Lazuli in that it has metallic streaks running through it which makes it very distinctive.
Citrine seemed to be the ideal contrast as the pale yellow/gold hues seems to make the Marcsite stand out more. Not to mention the contrast in textures and shape.
