I have my respect and admiration for the courageous heroes who fought for our country, many not came back to their families during the world war. There was fathers, sons, brothers, boyfriends, friends, cousins, uncles, grandfathers all so brave souls. In memory of those heroes I’ve made this Poppy’s Fairy out of Ceramic Stoneware fired at cone 6.
Perhaps the Fairies brought up the Poppies in the battlefield to make it as a gift, a memory for all those heroes.
Note: because of the size of this sculpture which is
Height: 20 cms
It was not possible to firing the entirely piece. The neck and head was fired separately of the body and attached after the last firing with transparent epoxy resin which is the most recommended medium to attached ceramic pieces and I used to it for so long. I’d recommend to not hang the piece by the head for it’s attachment.
Inspired by the poppy flower that growth in the battlefield after the WWI. In memory of the War Heroes and the 100 Aniversary of the end of the WWI.
