Full description

Copper hare brooch. This leaping copper hare is beautifully etched with intricate patterns.

This listing is for the Hare brooch with the bird etched on her side.

This is a brooch born with a lovely legend behind it!

Legend has it that the Goddess Eostre saved a bird with a broken wing from being Fox food! She did this by turning it in to a hare so that it became fleet of foot and could outrun the fox.

To show her gratitude the hare returned to the Goddess every year at the spring equinox with a gift of beautifully decorated eggs.

Hares do not have burrows like rabbits, instead have setts in rough grass almost like a nest. Baby hares - leverets are so seldom seen that until relatively recent times people believed that Hares did indeed lay eggs.
