Limited edition handmade print! Perfect for a history student’s wall.

In the 12th century, an author called Geoffrey of Monmouth composed the ‘History of the Kings of Britain’. He describes how an evil king massacres a group of Britons. In their memory, King Arthur’s uncle and father - Aurelius Ambrosius and Uther Pendragon - want to erect a great monument. With the help of Merlin, who is still a child, they deconstruct ‘the Giant’s Dance’ in Ireland and rebuild it Wiltshire. It comes to be known as Stonehenge.

This is the origin myth of Britain that circulated during the Middle Ages. I am doing a PhD on medieval illustrations of this myth.

Inspired by these stories and pictures, my illustrations are printed at and stamped by the Black Pig Printmaking Studio in Somerset.
