A truly unique Collectable, a Pyrite Coprolite Fossil specimen, ideal for display as it is, as a desk ornament or maybe for the geological or fossil collector in the house! Ideal as a photography prop too.
The unique Collectable, a pyrite Coprolite specimen that has been gently cleaned, to showcase to good advantage, a very 3 dimensional object, bronze tones in colour, a structural piece. Truly first class item. Oxidation can occur!
Coprolite is fossilised organic matter, or not to put to finer word on it, poo/faeces. Coprolites are classified as trace fossils as opposed to body fossils, as they give evidence for the animal's behaviour (in this case, diet) and now found abundantly as fossils in special locations such as the Jurassic coast in Dorset. I found this in the same place as I was finding fossil ammonites which are 150 million years old at Charmouth Beach.
The dimensions of this specimen is that it measures approx 25mms by 28mms & with a depth of approx 30mms at its thickest point, however it is irregular, as hopefully can be seen in the photos
A real testament to longevity & would make a wonderful gift for budding geologists or fossil hunters! Or as a stocking filler for someone that would find having a fossilised faeces specimen an amusing and interesting gift.
The fossil has been worked & whitttled slightly, after retrieving it from the ground, to remove extraneous rock & debris, but otherwise has been left as near to possible as it was found.
